eReferrer 2.0 Beta

Beta Header

We are actively working on a new website and a completely new version of eReferrer that's been written from the ground up. This new system will have everything you currently have, but in much more efficient, and user friendly form.

What we are looking for are beta testers. Not people who just want to use a new system. That being said we will need a substantial amount of assistance from our beta team. As of May 6 we have a little over 200 people signed up on the beta. We'd like to get that number to 500.

What you can expect of the beta:

  • Much more efficient code
    • This can already be seen in the existing site. During our database maintenance window we introduced completely new code which substantially speeds up load times while decreasing all around load.
  • More accurate referrer information
    • With the new site we will be gathering and storing much more data than the old site. Including statistical data, information about the site which the referrers are coming from and much more.
  • Highly improved reports and statistics
    • Along with gathering more data will be able to offer highly productive reports. Keep in mind, these will grow as time goes on, so in the beginning you'll have similar access to what you have now, but as time goes on we'll be able to add much more.
  • User managed styles
    • No need for additional CSS, you'll create your style in a WYSIWYG editor here on the site.
  • Multiple web sites on a single account. We use auto site discovery which will automatically add your sites as you add the code
    • Auto discovery will allow you to place your code on multiple websites. Our system will recognize the new sites and add them automatically.
  • One code block for all sites.
    • No more need for signing up multiple accounts and keeping track of which code goes to which site.
  • Increased security.
    • You will now be able to lock in your websites. so nobody else can place your code on their site. We also use individual user keys which add another layer of protection.
Some of the options listed above will not be immediately ready upon launch of the beta. Our first goal is to offer functionality. So you will have a working site, then we will be doing daily updates to the code and as new features are added you'll get weekly (or daily) update emails explaining what we're doing. These won't be version increases because this is all part of a complete re-write which will take us from the current version of 1.3 to 2.0. So while we will be keeping a changelog, it will not increase over 2.0. Instead you'll have minor beta version increments.

What we expect of our beta team:

Input input input. The goal here is to make a better product. We will provide you with a bug tracking system and we need input. For some reason the users here have been notorious about not reporting bugs. Remember, we can't fix what we don't know is broken. So let us know!

If, after all of that, being part of our beta team is something you're interested in, use the form below to sign up to the list. You can unsubscribe any time, and all correspondence will have opt-out options in the footer of the emails.
